What I will definitely miss are the morning rounds with the dog on the beach. Walk by the sea, great inventions. Then to one of the many "beer gardens" on the coast and an espresso and Imqaret. Phenomenal. Ciarrai is also very well behaved. Follows, hardly pulls, does not bark, chases nothing, that's easy. Now I sit and open facebook and what do I see? Beer gardens are also opening in Germany and are desperately looking for staff. Just like the whole gastronomy is looking for "skilled workers" (I can't take the term seriously for gastro, what all counts as a skilled worker), meanwhile. Small tip for the gastronomes. If you pay your people badly (who gets the minimum wage, should also only work the minimum), cheats them in the accounts, otherwise only badly treated, you do not need to wonder why they are looking for something better. Social security, health insurance, not even mentioned. But having one or two horses for dressage (each 100k). Those who have the choice. I have done that during the study very gladly. Unfortunately I couldn't find a job as a working student, I was too unconformable with my resume, it wasn't that hip at that time and I didn't have any connections. In the gastro there was money right away, much more important, always something to eat and a few beers in addition. Also very important for me, contact to "other" people as students or academics. To many I have still today active contact. Nothing against students, only there are some who think from the first semester the career starts, others hang on to you shamelessly to get through everything without effort. Both are not my world. Meanwhile, due to the pandemic, I know that the average stupidity is similarly distributed. When studied chemists propagate something about masks letting viruses through but blocking CO2 when exhaled (citing a medical doctoral thesis. Medical thesis! We real scientists all know that they are mostly only there to increase the hirsch index of the doctoral fathers) then you go back inside yourself and recapitulate those in front of your mind's eye. And lo and behold it suddenly becomes clear, fraternity and let's say "national" background. What was I/we naive. But it's nice that we finally know who we're actually dealing with. Anyway, I'm digressing again. So beach dog walk, a nice start to the day. Then I wanted to take the ferry to Valletta. But it was suspended because of bad weather. So the bus. No problem, each line goes directly to Valletta and costs 1.50 € easy, cheap. Valletta seems to have a central bus station, from there a bus leaves in each direction, every five minutes. In Valletta, celebrations were still going on. Anyway, off through the narrow streets. I tried to read the history of Valletta, gave it up, just so much, it seems to be several bastions. Different orders of knights and the second most densely populated capital in Europe. So coffee and from one bastion to the other. Good music on the ears, I had fun. Then in the evening back and by chance I stumbled on a path on the beach. I spent several hours there and looked into the surf. So now should be equal to my laundry ready, hang up and then out and on. In this sense, have a nice day and Mr. Putin, the war is stupid, right?
