Palermo so. Yesterday I already got an impression of the inhabitants and I do not betray now too much if I say that strengthened today. But well, with rude I can live. Really, with my vita no problem. In the morning after the blog out and explore the area. Nice that I had the day before almost all the sights by bike, rather by chance. Well this time on foot, determined to get me a new tire (foldable) for my bike so that I can renew the story at the next opportunity (flat tire). And so it began. The first bike store I chose was located along the sights. In bright weather go past churches, houses, theaters and then I was, in front of a newly opened hardware store. No bicycle store far and wide. Somehow in this Internet sometimes things are not true. I wonder if anyone has figured it out yet? Anyway, so to the next. When I looked in the morning, I made out 2 stores that could probably have what I was looking for. Both were on opposite sides of town, with my hostel in the middle. The one I looked for unsuccessfully, well, it was on chance and almost on the way. So off to the outskirts, past car repair shops, stores with car accessories, car hi-fi stores and car laundry sheds. Really, there is not little of it here. Then after 3 km I finally stood in front of my store. In and explained what I need (google trans and foto). Yes no they do not have in the width. Only for mountain bikes and I would not have a mountain bike (please note). Around me were tens of gravel bikes with tires that would have been good, but they would not have replacements for it, and from a mounted bike they did not want to take anything. After some back and forth he gave me the address of the other bike store on the other side of town. Suddenly he had another flash of inspiration. He asked for patience and disappeared into his attic, whose hatch was directly above the counter. Down he came with a non-folding tire, hardly any tread, very narrow. I declined, there was no real hurry. The disappointment was written on his face, he didn't understand now. When I left the store the weather was suddenly rainy. How long was I in there? And I walked back towards town, when the rain became heavy, I stopped in, pulled myself a plate of pasta and a really good coffee. In the meantime I noticed that the other store was closed until 4 p.m. and since it was raining I went back to the hostel. Around half past three it cleared up again and I was already happy when I started walking again to wait 10 minutes later under a house entrance until the rain fell again less violently from the sky. Somehow I made it half wet to the store. There an older lady and a boy behind the counter. When I asked if they spoke English, the boy nodded enthusiastically and said, "Yes". My experience in Palermo with Anglo-Saxon are like this, they all say they can speak English, the quality is the question. For example, yesterday my nice port information (porter) sent me the next entrance after 100 m right when I asked for the gate for the ferry to Sardinia (after 100 m right the entrance). There I stood then in the port administration and looked for the gate. What he had meant was after 1000 m right (the second turn). Entrance and street, two different words in English. So also in the bike store, but I was carful and we got into conversation. The young man then told me (pay attention) I had a mountain bike and they did not have that here. Also Luigi the called mechanic from the workshop said this. They would have here only racing bikes. But! In the basement maybe, Luigi went and got me a non-folding tire, this time bit profile also very narrow. Again, I declined. While walking the older lady said something to the boy and suddenly he conjured up exactly what I needed from the shelf right behind him. Exactly matching width and size, a little less profile than what I need. Quite proudly he told me, also for Tubeless, if I wanted to pay with card. I denied, said cash. He gave me 20% cheaper, without invoice of course. So then out and back into the city, I had not yet visited a few buildings. The rain was now very strong and so I ran then in the pouring rain through the city. Was still shopping at the market. What I put down here for a purchase on the market, I paid for it on the weekly market in Mannheim for a bell pepper from Sicily (the large, tasty). Maybe the merchant in Mannheim should have paid cash? Soaked (especially the shoes) I then arrived in my room and must first dry everything before packing. In this sense, good night and Mr. Putin, after they have lost the war, they thank off, right?
