The second day again. Tough, headwind and mimimieeee anyway. A glance at the map told me that I still had 5 days for 350 km and somehow I wasn't on the run, so I set off late in the morning and took my time. I actually wanted to go to a bakery to get a croissant first, but today is Monday and almost everything is closed. I was lucky to find a bar that at least had a café. Well, Monday. It was the same today, almost everything was closed everywhere and what was open, well. Did I mention that today was tough? Somehow the headwind was compounded by a lack of motivation, and the mood was correspondingly good. The paths were good, even signposted, the villages beautiful, the weather perfect for cycling, but today was the second day. Despite the headwind, I was going fast, there really are a lot of touring cyclists here, most of them not so experienced. I passed Blois, pretty, I passed lots of little châteaux and castles, all pretty, I passed a long rock formation where some of the houses were built into the rock, pretty, but somehow it didn't work as well as usual today. Not in the mood! By lunchtime I was starting to get hungry and was already feeling pretty drowsy (had run out of bananas) and arrived in Amboise. What a really pretty little town. I found a bakery there that was open and sat down outside. I had only covered 80 km, but I was ecstatic. So I thought I'd drive on to Tours, I'm sure it's just as pretty, and stay there. I opened the app, found a super cheap place to stay and booked it. On to Tours, still thinking of the last enchanting little town. I arrive and am bitterly disappointed. There are cities that you immediately fall in love with, some come at second glance and there are others that never work out. Welcome to Tours. Fitting for today, the weather was also getting worse. I wish I had driven another 20 kilometers to the nature park or stayed in Amboise. Well, that suits today, tomorrow will be different, in that sense.
